BARAMULLAH: The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed all PM Package employees in Baramulla to operate remotely until April 27.
The chief education officer (CEO) of Baramulla issued this directive to protect PM Package employees following the tragic incident in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
The CEO has ordered that "all employees engaged under the PM Package are hereby directed to work from home for the duration of this week with immediate effect up to Sunday."
The PM Package, initiated in 2008-09, was established to facilitate the return and resettlement of Kashmiri migrants to the Kashmir Valley.
A terrorist assault at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, with numerous others sustaining injuries. This marks one of the most severe incidents in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack that claimed 40 CRPF personnel.

In response, India has implemented stringent measures against Pakistan regarding its involvement in cross-border terrorism.
During the CCS meeting, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, India resolved to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 until Pakistan definitively renounces its support for cross-border terrorism.
Additionally, India has closed the integrated Attari check post with immediate effect, revoked visas under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES), and instructed Pakistani nationals to depart within 48 hours.
India has designated Defence/Military, Naval and Air Advisors in the Pakistan High Commission as Persona Non Grata, requiring their departure within seven days.
For security purposes, India will withdraw its Defence/Navy/Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These positions in both High Commissions are now terminated. Five support staff members of the Service Advisors will also be withdrawn from both missions.
The high commissions' total staff will be reduced from 55 to 30 through additional cuts, effective May 1, 2025.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri disclosed these decisions at a press conference on Wednesday following the CEC meeting.
