Gurgaon: The new MCG commissioner, 2013-batch IAS officer Pradeep Dahiya, took charge on Wednesday and outlined cleanliness, door-to-door waste collection, processing of legacy waste and a proper drainage system as his focus areas.
In his address to officials after assuming office, he said that those not accustomed to working diligently to address the residents' issues need to pull up their socks. "Addressing public concerns remains the primary purpose of govt service, and inefficiency would not be tolerated. Officials should perform their duties with transparency and dedication," he said.
Dahiya also held a meeting with GMDA officials to take a stock of solid waste management and pre-monsoon preparedness, directing officials to work in coordination with each other for resolving public issues.
Further, he instructed the officials to ensure that the drains are cleaned, and waterlogging-prone areas identified before the monsoon arrived.
Meanwhile, GMDA officials apprised the commissioner of measures being taken around the major waterlogging-prone sites and the three master drains, known as leg-1, 2, and 3, which eventually merge into the Najafgarh drain.
Check-dams and creeks have been constructed in the Aravali to stop and harvest water, they told Dahiya.
