GURGAON: A 25-year-old business analyst suffered severe injuries when a drunk man repeatedly drove his car over him in Sector-38 on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred after the victim attempted to assist a woman who was in distress. The accused has been arrested and a case registered.
Parth Bhardwaj, employed at a private company at Unitech Cyber Park in Sector-39, lives in a PG accommodation. He recounts hearing a woman's distress calls around 7.30 pm after her mobile phone was snatched by an unidentified person.
"She asked me to call 112. As I was trying to find out what exactly happened to her, an Alto came from the side and hit me. I fell on the road. The car driver reversed his vehicle and again drove over me. I remained stuck under the car. Locals intervened and pulled the driver out of the car. They then lifted the car and pulled me out. The accused was in an intoxicated condition. After I was rescued, the woman who was crying earlier approached me and apologised for my situation. I suffered three fractures on my spinal cord and five in my ribs. My right hand suffered a burn as it was stuck under the car's silencer," Parth told TOI.
Following initial care at Medanta, Parth was transferred to a hospital in Panipat. He reports spending Rs 1 lakh on treatment thus far, with additional expenses anticipated for plastic surgery and other medical procedures. Currently wheelchair-bound, Parth seeks appropriate legal action against the car driver.
